FOREWORD
As we once again embark on a new breeding
season, we reflect on a stellar year for Irish National
Stud stallions. 2025 witnessed the emergence of
PHOENIX OF SPAIN as an elite source of graded
stakes winners across the globe.
PHOENIX OF SPAIN was not only the Leading Third Crop Sire of Worldwide Group
winners, ahead of his third crop contemporaries Blue Point, Too Darn Hot and Study of
Man; his ratio of 4.5% Group winners to runners positioned him within the elite company
of Europe’s top stallions Wootton Bassett, Dubawi, Night Of Thunder and his own sire
LOPE DE VEGA. Led by his remarkable Group 1 winner Caballo De Mar, closely followed
by the admirable Haatem and the globetrotting Soul of Spain, further Group wins followed
for star fillies Cheshire Dancer, Lady of Spain and Atsila. With the notable exception of
Atsila’s high class brother Lafayette, these elite performers have a common thread, as the
best produce of their dam, a trend that Phoenix of Spain continues to replicate time and
time again. He has now proven himself to be a reliable source of elite Group winners, that
continue to improve with racing and provide serial upgrades to mares. He is undoubtedly
excellent value for money in 2026 at €12,500.
Group 1 winner LUCKY VEGA led the way amongst the First Crop Sires with a winner to
runner’s ratio of 44%, led by exciting stakes winners LAM YAI and ONLY LUCK and the
stakes placed SENORITA VEGA. Amongst his 20 individual winners he also provided 90+
rated POATAN, BOILING OVER, LOZ VEGAS and LOST SIGNAL as well as the unbeaten
JUNGLE RULER and KINDERGARTEN. At an excellent 4.4% of Stakes winners to runners,
LUCKY VEGA’s positive early start is the foundation for a strong return in 2026 as a young
stallion with extraordinary upside given the volume and depth of mares he has received
in both hemispheres. LUCKY VEGA stands at €12,500 for 2026.
An exciting addition to the INS roster in 2026, is the arrival of ARIZONA BLAZE, who
stands in partnership with the international powerhouse AMO RACING. A high class twoyear-old that excelled at three by winning the Gr.1 Flying Five at The Curragh, ARIZONA
BLAZE is available at €12,500. A physically imposing colt with a remarkable turn of foot,
ARIZONA BLAZE has size and strength, combined with superb action.
